Description

Abuse & Neglect Program Checkup (August 7 through September 11, 2024 - Wednesday's from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. 

This important series reviews strategic elements to compliance with the Freedom from Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation regulations at §483.12, with an emphasis on abuse prevention efforts, effective policies and procedures, training, reporting requirements, conducting investigations and incident response management. Extensive IJ deficiency examples will be reviewed with discussion of effective programming and survey preparedness activities to prevent Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation related citations.

Each webinar has been approved for 1 NAB CE.  Proactive will submit hours for participants within 30 days after webinars.

August 7 – Abuse & Neglect Policies and Training Compliance

          Objectives:

1. Review the regulatory required components for the facility Abuse & Neglect policy.

                     2. Discuss the critical elements and frequency for Abuse training compliance.

                     3. Identify tips and strategies for successful Abuse training implementation.

August 14 – Abuse & Neglect Reporting Requirements

          Objectives:

  • Be familiar with the regulatory requirements for reporting Abuse & Neglect.
  • Identify tools that can be used for reporting of Abuse & Neglect.
  • Identify tips and strategies for facility compliance with reporting of Abuse & Neglect.

August 21 – Capacity to Consent to Sexual Activity

          Objectives:

  • Understand the regulatory requirements for determining capacity to consent to sexual activity.
  • Become familiar with methods for determining capacity to consent to sexual activity.
  • Identify tips and strategies for documentation for capacity to consent to sexual activity.

August 28 – Investigating Allegations of Abuse

          Objectives:

  • Understand the regulatory requirements for investigating allegations of abuse.
  • Identify tips and strategies for conducting a thorough abuse investigation.
  • Become familiar with tools for documenting abuse investigations.

September 4 – Incident Response & Management

          Objectives:

  • Understand the regulatory requirements for responding to allegations of abuse.
  • Identify tips and strategies for effectively managing response to allegations of abuse.
  • Become familiar with tools for documenting abuse allegation response and management.

September 11 – Retrospective Study of Abuse & Neglect IJ Deficiencies & Plans of Correction

          Objectives:

  • Become familiar with abuse and neglect deficient practices that result in an Immediate Jeopardy.
  • Identify PoC interventions for addressing abuse and neglect deficiencies.
  • Understand best practice strategies for preventing abuse and neglect citations.
