Description

To serve as an administrator of a nursing home in the United States, a candidate must meet certain federal and state requirements. The educational and professional standards vary from state to state, however, in all States, a person aspiring to be a nursing home administrator must pass two federal examinations. They are referred to as the Core and Line of Service (LOS). Both tests are multi-choice/best answer exams. The Core are more generic in nature and applies to persons seeking a nursing home administrator license, a resident care/assisted living license (RCAL), or one for a home and community-based services (HCBS) setting. It is 100 questions. The Line of Service is a 60-question test specific to the type of license one is seeking. Federal statue mandates that a nursing home administrator candidate take and pass the Core and the nursing home LOS. Candidates for the RCAL license and HCB services may be required by state regulations to pass these exams as well. This program is designed to assist those candidates as well. The two-day program is designed to assist candidates to prepare and pass the two tests. Participants will be provided a detailed handout, which is the basis of the program. The course is broken down into the five domains of practice as identified NAB. Along with the “meat and potatoes” of the program, the presenter will provide valuable insight on what it takes to be a successful administrator.
