On Nov. 18, 2024, CMS released major changes to CMS' long-term care survey guidelines that inspectors will begin using on March 25, 2025: 'Long-Term Care (LTC) Surveyor Guidance Process: Significant Updates Aim to Enhance the Quality and Oversight of LTC Surveys.' https://www.cms.gov/files/document/qso-25-12-nh.pdf . Changes in these guidelines mean changes in what constitutes a deficiency and how they may be addressed with respect to both existing and new regulations. Significant changes concern admission, transfer, and discharge processes, including prohibiting language in admission agreements that requests or requires a third-party guarantee of payment, chemical restraints/unnecessary psychotropic medication, Resident assessment, medication management, quality of life and quality of care, administration, QAPI, infection control, and health equity considerations, nursing services, competencies of staff, and accuracy of Payroll Based Journaling (PBJ). Objectives: • Participants will demonstrate understanding of QSO-25-12-NH REVISED related to future strategies of emphasis for surveyors • Participants will demonstrate understanding of the major changes included in the surveyor guidance related to specific changes to regulatory requirements • Participants will demonstrate understanding of the importance of development of an action plan to prepare for the regulatory changes Webinar to be conducted from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and is approved by NAB for 2.00 CEUs for LNHA.
