This training explores the critical role of dietary documentation in nursing homes, focusing on regulatory compliance, accurate nutrition tracking, and effective interdisciplinary communication. Participants will learn best practices for documenting resident dietary needs, preferences, intake, and care plan adjustments, while also addressing common pitfalls and citation risks. Practical strategies for integrating documentation with MDS accuracy, survey preparedness, and quality assurance initiatives will be highlighted.
Objectives: •Identify key regulatory standards that guide dietary documentation including F692 and F800 •Describe best practices for documenting resident preferences, nutritional intake & care plans •Recognize common documentation errors that lead to deficiencies and citations •Integrate dietary documentation practices into interdisciplinary communication and survey readiness •Apply structured tools and checklists to strengthen compliance and support ongoing monitoring
